Are you already selling online or thinking to open an online shop soon? Whatever the stage you are in, there is always a place to learn more and to explore different solutions to increase sell and serve your clients better. In this blog post, I will introduce you to some of them.
Search engine optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization is one of the most effective (and one of the hardest) ways to get a large number of very good targeted customers. See below my top 3 SEO tips to improve your website.
- Optimise your website for effective keywords. Make sure you include them on various pages on your website or online shop.
- Remove anything that slows down your website. Optimise images that are too large and upload your videos on an external platform like YouTube or Vimeo.
- Link to other websites with relevant content. If you are looking to learn more about SEO, check out Neil Patel’s website – this post in particular where he writes about how to optimise your website.
If you know nothing about SEO try to find some basic information on the Internet and optimize for easy keywords or hire a SEO specialist. It’s important to get this going to make sure your potential clients will come across your website.
- The advantage of search engine optimization is the fact that you get the visitors who want to buy the goods (or services) which you offer.
- The disadvantage is the long time necessary for successful optimization.
Pay per click (PPC)
There are several search engines offering pay per click program, but probably one of the best and well-used platform is Google Ads. In a nutshell, PPC is an internet advertising model used to drive traffic to websites, in which an advertiser pays a publisher when the ad is clicked.
According to Wordstream, who gets to appear on the page is based on and advertiser’s Ad Rank, a metric calculated by multiplying two key factors – CPC Bid (the highest amount an advertiser is willing to spend) and Quality Score (a value that takes into account your click-through rate, relevance, and landing page quality). This system allows winning advertisers to reach potential customers at a cost that fits their budget. It’s essentially a kind of auction. The below infographic illustrates how this auction system works.
Promotional coupon codes
Everybody is happy for a free gift or some discount and a lot of online marketers take advantage of this fact. So why don’t make your customers happy too?
If you sell products to direct clients, it’s very easy to promote your codes. In addition to your own personal promotion using social media and email marketing, you can promote your code on promotional coupon code directories on the Internet.
Try a combination of promotional coupon codes strategy and affiliate marketing. Give away to your publishers promo codes or special affiliate link. If the visitor clicks on a particular link he gets some discount, free gift, free shipping or another benefit.
This is what I can offer you with EKM – because I am an official partner I can offer you a special promotion where to have 28 days free access to try this platform out to create your own online shop (if you don’t have one or are planning to migrate your shop somewhere else).
Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.
My partnership with EKM is an affiliate marketing one but with a special benefit for the clients – if they buy directly from EKM they get 14 days free access, while if they buy from their partners, like myself, they get 28 days free access.
As a seller, you can register yourself as a merchant on affiliate marketing platforms like Clickbank, Skimlinks, Rakuten, Link Share and many others. You’ll have to include in your prices the commission you give to your affiliates.
Web site owners will put your advertisement (usually text link or banner) on their page and promote your business on various ways and then you (the merchant) will pay commission from each deal to the site owner.
The advantage of this promotion method is the fact that you can never lose your money for inefficient advertising because you pay only in case you earn some money. Using affiliate marketing you won’t have to spend much on advertising either because the affiliates will promote your business without you spending any penny for this.
The client will also be happy because otherwise he wouldn’t find out about you or couldn’t benefit from the special promotion you offer via your affiliate marketing platform.
I haven’t used this method personally, but many other marketers say it’s working well so I’ll throw it in the mix.
The simplified concept behind a banner exchange is “I will show your ads on my site in exchange for getting to show my ads on your site.”
This is how you do it – you include a HTML code to your web site and each time somebody visits the site where the HTML code is placed a banner will be displayed and you get some credits (usually 1/2 – 1 credit depending on the exchange ratio). For each credit you “earn”, your banner will be displayed on another banner exchange members page.
This type of promotion is good for branding but it will increase your traffic just about 0,1 – 1 % only (depending on click rate of your banner) so always combine this method with another strategy.
The banner exchange is a free ad marketplace. Click here to read more and join in if this is a suitable way to promote your website.
