What is The Bible’s Role in Your Life?

Category : Christian Blog

The Bible is fascinating. There are so many good things to learn and apply in all the aspects of our lives – health, finances, marriage, parenting, relationship with God and with other people and much more. The Bible is about what Jesus had done for you, God’s promises and His Kingdom and what to do in your daily life to live in harmony and please God. I also believe the Bible is a way of God communicating with us.

The Word of God

The Bible is the authoritative Word of God, written by people but inspired by the Holy Spirit. According to The International Bible Society, the Bible is a diverse collection of writings from about 40 main contributors—30 in the Old Testament and 10 in the New Testament.

“The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

God’s Will

The Holy Spirit revealed to me that The Bible is the Will of God. This means if you ask for something that is in the Bible, God is answering. He said it, so be it. Since Salvation, Health, Hope, Peace, are some of God’s promises (there are more), I believe God wants me to have them and He wants you to have them too if you pray in faith in the name of Jesus. “I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13) I believe God’s Word reveal God’s Will for us.

When you use the Scripture in prayer, your faith grows helping you believing you received what you can’t see. “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24-25). Since God made many promises in the Bible, I believe they are true and I claim what He promised to give me.

If you are like me studying the Bible on various subjects, you may find useful “The Book of Bible Promises” with Bible verses selected by Christ Bible Church.

Prophetic Book

Another revelation I received from the Holy Spirit is that the Bible is a prophetic book which includes many scientific discoveries that had been discovered and that there are more that are yet to be discovered.

After this idea came into my mind, I started to look on the internet to see what I can find on this subject. Did you know that Tesla’s idea of alternating current comes from the book of Matthew and that the invention of the microwave has its roots in the fourth chapter of Revelations? It’s hard to see what Tesla and other inventors had seen but I believe God spoke to them through the Bible.

I believe there are many yet unfulfilled prophecies to come that are mentioned in the Bible.

A Life Guide

The International Bible Society came up with a very practical way of seeing the Bible as a life guide (see below).

The Bible is:

  • A guide for living life to the full. It gives us a roadmap for the perilous journey of life. Or to put it another way, on our voyage through life’s ocean, the Bible is an anchor.
  • A storehouse of wonderful stories for children and grownups. Remember Noah and the ark? Joseph’s coat of many colours? Daniel in the lion’s den? Jonah and the fish? The parables of Jesus? These stories emphasise the triumphs and failures of ordinary people.
  • A refuge in trouble. People in pain, in suffering, in prison, and in mourning tell how turning to the Bible brought strength in their desperate hour.
  • A treasury of insight as to who we are. We are not meaningless robots, but we are magnificent creatures of a God who loves us and gives us a purpose and a destiny.
  • A sourcebook for everyday living. We find standards for our conduct, guidelines for knowing right from wrong, and principles to help us in a confused society where so often “anything goes.”

If You Have Faith, Nothing Will Be Impossible For You

Category : Christian Blog

By God’s grace, we receive salvation through faith and I believe through faith we also receive healing, peace and whatever we pray for in the name of Jesus Christ. In Ephesians 2:8-10 Paul says “by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.

Healing is close to my heart and I believe this is God’s Will, it is one of His promises and one of the blessings we received in Christ. Jesus Christ died for the forgiveness of our sins and He also took all our pains and diseases on the cross. He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed”1 Peter 2:24-25. Sickness does not come from God, He loves you, there is no sickness in heaven and healing is one of God’s promises.

As you pray for healing be ready to receive the healing even if you may not see it instantly manifested into your body. Have faith that God healed you. Give thanks for being healed and act as being healed.

Jesus told to His disciples “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”  (Matthew 17:20). This is what we all need. The gift of Faith, the Faith of God, the faith that comes from God, that strong faith to make you believe in things we can’t see. If you didn’t receive it yet, pray and ask God to give it to you. “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit” (1 Corinthians 14:1)

Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).

Unfortunately we are the ones who are not ready to accept the idea that God answered to our prayers if we can’t see the results manifested in our lives straight away. What I want to remind you is that God is always faithful. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown himself (2 Timothy 2:13).

According To Your Faith

The gospels in the New Testament show many stories how sick people received healing by faith.

  • “When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” – Matthew 8:1-4

  • “When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment. Matthew 8:5-13
  • “Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, your faith has healed you. And the woman was healed at that moment” – Matthew 9:20-22
  • “Two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, According to your faith let it be done to you” – Matthew 9:27-29
  • “And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed” – Matthew 14:35-36

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is “the way and the truth and the life”. No one comes to the Father except through him (John 14:6). We all need to know Jesus and pray to the Father in the name of Jesus Christ because For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20). As I pray for something I am ready to receive God’s blessings, God’s grace though my faith, because I know that His answer is always YES in Christ and Christ is in me.

Trust God

When something doesn’t go according to your plan, don’t dispair and don’t be disspointed. I applied for a job recently and I haven’t heard back from them. Although I did pray and I hoped I will get this job, yesterday I had a feeling that this job is not going to be mine. I still don’t know the outcome but what I want to say is that when I prayed and asked God why do I have this feeling, what does this mean because I thought is the right job for me, He told me “I have a better plan for you”.

God’s plan is always better than yours and when something doesn’t work the way you want, always remember that God has a better plan for you. Make Jesus your Lord, Your Saviour, surrender your life to Him, and He will guide you and reveal His plans. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” – Matthew 7:7-8

Verse of the Day

“Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before.” — Joel 2:23 Listen to chapter Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica. Powered by
