You Need More Than Just Positive Thinking to Live a Happy Life. You Need God.

Since the moment I have seen the film “The Secret” and I studied all the teachers from the film and many others in the recent years, I had a desire – to discover how this thing works and to help other people who go through difficult situations. I didn’t have the courage to start life coaching but now I know why. There was something I didn’t know in that moment but I was about to find out many years later…

Exactly 12 days ago I discovered that God is the one in who I should have Faith in, He is The Creator, He is The One who helps and provides for you. He knows what you need, He lives with you and in you (I will explain this a bit later in my blog post).

“Do not start worrying: ‘Where will my food come from? or my drinks? or my clothes? Your Father in Heaven knows you need all these other things” (Matthew 6:31).

Believe That You Have Received

You CAN live a HAPPY life. You, the person who reads this post, have you seen the film “The Secret”? You probably heard about Positive Thinking, the Law of Attraction and the concept of believing you have received what you asked for… Good.

Now… Did you read the Bible? Would you be surprised if I tell that Jesus told exactly the same thing to his disciples?

The only BIG difference is that “The Secret” missed the importance of praying and praising God for what He has done and is doing for us.

This is what Jesus told to his disciples.

“Have Faith in God. I assure you that whoever tells this hill to get up and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. For this reason, I tell you: when you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for. And when you stand and pray, forgive anything you may have against anyone, so that your Father in heaven will forgive the wrongs you have done” (Mark 11:22-25).

This is not a secret, it was known by the people who believed in God and read God’s Word, the Bible.

If you read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you will find out that Jesus had impressive powers from His Father and every time when He healed someone he told to the person healed that his Faith made him or her well. This says something… It says that Faith in God is stronger than anything else in the world. Have Faith in God, obey Him, and God will answer to your pray. This is the Power of God.

When the disciples couldn’t command to the demon to come out of a boy but Jesus did it, they asked Jesus why they weren’t able to do it. “It was because you haven’t enough faith”, answered Jesus.

This is what Jesus had also said…

“I assure you that if you have faith as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this hill ‘Go from here to there!’ and it will go. You could do anything!” (Matthew 17:20) – New Life Good News Bibble.

“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”  – New International Version Bible.

Gratitude

Rhonda Byrne’s book “The Magic” teaches you to be grateful for what you have and count your blessings every single day.

Here is what she says…

You could be grateful for your home, your family, your friends, your work, and your pets. You could be thankful for the sun, the water that you drink, the food that you eat, and the air that you breathe; without any of them you wouldn’t be alive. You could be grateful for the trees, the animals, the oceans, the birds, the flowers, the plants, blue skies, rain, the stars, the moon, and our beautiful planet Earth.
You could be grateful for your senses, your eyes that see, your ears that hear, your mouth that tastes, your nose that smells, and your skin that enables you to feel. You could be grateful for the legs you walk on, your hands that you use to almost everything, your voice that enables you to express yourself and communicate with others. You could give thanks for your amazing immune system that keeps you well, and all of your organs that maintain your body so that you can live. And what about the magnificence of your human mind, which no computer technology in the world can duplicate?
Who created the trees, the animals, the oceans, the birds and the flowers? The answer is God.
How did you come to this World? God has chosen you, you were born from the love of God.
Who made you the way you are? You know the answer… God. We are all God’s creation.
Now let me tell you what the Bible says. I am sure there are other verses but I am mentioning in this post only what I read about.

“In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, always give thanks for everything to God the Father” (Ephesians 5:20)

Give thanks to THE ONE who made the World and You, don’t give your thanks in vain. Feel grateful for what God has done for you and what He gives you every day of your life. The food you drink, the friends you have, the house you live in, they are all God’s Merit.

God loves us so much that He sent his own son to die for us. What other proof of love do you need? I am grateful and praise God for He has done and is doing for me every single day.

“For God loved the world so much that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its saviour” (John 3:16-17).

God sent his Son to Earth to be crucified for our sins and now He offers the Holy Spirit to those who believe in Him, have faith and obey His Word. Jesus is “The Good Shepherd who is willing to die for the sheep” (John 10:11). He has come “in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

The Work of the Holy Spirit

Until nearly two weeks ago I believed that God is there in Heaven but I didn’t connect in any way with Him. Now Holy Spirit guides me in the right direction and teaches me what to do, say and write. I read from the Bible every day, and I find all the answers I need. And not only this. Thoughts of what I should do are coming into my mind and I know who is guiding me. This is not my subconscious mind, nor the Law of Attraction, it’s the Holy Spirit who shows me what to do. I just have to follow Him.

I didn’t plan to write this post, I had a feeling I have to be open and confess who I am now. I am a new person, a new Carmen who thinks positive thoughts, who is grateful for what God gave to her, who puts her faith in God, who believes in what Jesus has done for us, who is amazed to discover how the Holy Spirit works and how good God is with all of us.

I tried to read the Bible a while ago but I didn’t get a word. Now, whenever I read anything in the Bible, I can clearly understand the message. I want to share my happiness with you. I have started to write a book and I am planning to create a catalogue of images with powerful verses from the Bible that you can print it out and stick it on the walls (this is what I will do). As I learn more from God’s Word, I want to help others to discover they can live a happy life.

The Secret and other theories are trying to get the same results – of receiving what they ask for – without praying and without believing in God. I am not judging, God is the only one who judges us, but I believe that if you put your faith and hope in God your life will be different.

God is The Creator of the world but He is actually the Creator of all things around you. He has an Infinite Power who is ready to give it to those who have faith in Him. He loves us, He cares for us, and He shows you the right way if you believe in Him. He is with you all the time.

I now feel peaceful and happy, good thoughts are coming into my mind all the time, I feel loved and I feel love for others. He is telling me what to do from the moment I wake up until I go to bed (and during the night I suppose because He never sleeps, He is with me all the time). Do you know why I feel happy and peaceful, without any worries at all? Because I trust Him. He cares for me, and He actually brought me into situations where people gave me money or work to do in exchange for the money.

By putting my faith in God, I believe everything is possible, He can move mountains, He can heal people and raise people from death.

In Matthew 19:26, Jesus looked at his disciples and told them: “This is impossible for human beings, but for God everything is possible”.

The Holy Sprit lives is us, those who believe. “Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God?” (Corinthians 6:19)

“When, however, the Spirit comes, who reveals the truth about God, he will lead you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own authority, but he will speak of what he hears, and will tell you of the things to come. He will give me glory because he will take what I say and tell it to you. All that my Father has is mine; that is why I said that the Spirit will take what I give him and tell it to you” (John 16:13-15).

The Good News that changed my life

I have always believed that God exists but I didn’t realise He is with me all the time. What I heard in the Sunday service a couple of weeks ago changed the way I feel about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Sunday, the 19th February, was the day when, even though I haven’t been to the church in the last few months, something stronger than me made me go and listen to Ben Rowe’ speech. He is part of the eldership team at King’s Community Church Southampton.

“God is here, He really is here, is not a theory, is a reality”, said Ben (minute 10:00). Start approaching your life knowing that God is with you all the time.

I understood that God loves to be with us, He likes us. When we get into a situation He is there for us, He is with us all the time. He is Powerful, Big, Mighty, Holy. He is all of these things. He is also compassionate and kind, tender, gentle and friendly.

It may sound strange for you, but once you begin to embrace this and believe what the Bible says you will find answers to all the questions you may have.

Who is God?

“No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father’s side, He has made Him known” (John 1:18).

“God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship Him as He really is” (John 4:24).

“God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to humanity. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out” (John 1:3-5)

The Bible verses mentioned in this blog post are from New Life Good News Bibble, an easy-to-read Bible translation, ideal for young adults and people who have just discovered the Word of God.
